Physician practice using GE Centricity converts to Allscripts Enterprise and retains full access to legacy EMR data using PatientArchive®
A cost-effective alternative to discrete data conversion
Profile:
A healthcare organization using Allscripts Enterprise EHR had acquired a new practice. The newly acquired practice was using Centricity, and the parent organization wanted to align patient care by having all practices use Allscripts Enterprise EHR. They needed to allow the physicians to maintain access to their legacy EMR data. However, they did not have the budget to perform a full discrete data conversion for each practice.
- The physicians did not want to log into another system to view this data
- The healthcare organization did not have the budget to perform a discrete EMR data conversion into their current EMR
Solution:
We consulted the organization on the different options available and determined that the most viable option would be to bring over discrete data, scanned images and documents into our PatientArchive solution. This is a cost-effective alternative to discrete data conversion, allowing physicians to access legacy EMR data directly from their new EMR.
Results:
The physicians who joined the new healthcare organization were able to easily access all their data from Allscripts Enterprise EHR immediately upon going live. The following goals were achieved as a result of the project:
- The overall costw of providing physicians access to their legacy data was a fraction of the cost of a full discrete data conversion
- The physicians got access to a consolidated view of their legacy data
within 1 month - The acquired practices could turn off their legacy EMR system, saving on maintenance and licensing costs
