Patient Chart Corrections

Need to make change or edit to patient chart? DataArk has you covered. Follow these step-by-step instructions to learn to:

• Edit Master Patient to update patient details, including the MPI number, with changes reflected in charts and search results.
• Link Patient to Master Patient to records seamlessly by linking a source patient to a target patient (survivor).

Edit Master Patient

1. Go to this path (hover your cursor to find: Menu > HIM > Manage Patients > Click Edit Master Patient.
2. Enter search criteria for the patient and click Find. Then, click the patient name in the Results grid.
3. All fields are editable (as seen on the right). Click Edit MPI to edit the MPI Number.

4. Click Continue. Edits will display in the patient chart and/or search criteria.

Note: If you need to add a new patient in DataArk, follow this path:

Hover over Menu > HIM > Manage Patients > Click Add Patient Record and enter the required information in the fields provided.

Link Patient to Master Patient

1. Go to the following path (hover your cursor to find): Menu > HIM > Manage Patients > Click Link Patient to Master Patient.

2. Make sure to determine which patient is the Source and which is the Target:

• • Source Patient: This patient, and all associated records, will be merged into the Target patient.
  • Target Patient (also known as the “survivor”): This patient will remain after the merge is complete.

3. Go to the Patients tab:

• • Enter the Source patient information in the search fields (Facility is a mandatory field).
  • Click Find.
  • Select the patient name in the Patients grid and click Next.

4. Go to the Master Patients tab:

• • Enter the Target patient information in the search fields.
  • Click Find.
  • Select the patient name in the Master Patients grid and click Next.

5. Review and link the tab that appears:

• • Confirm the Selected Patient (Source patient) and Selected Master Patient (Target patient) information is correct.
  • Click Finish. All records associated with the Source patient will now be linked to the Target patient.
