Planning & Scope
Project team members identified use cases for the data and the scope of data to be managed in DataArk. Additionally, roles were defined for all parties and a mutual project plan was established.
Legacy Data Extraction
Various tools were utilized to extract legacy system data. Required tools varied from application to application (i.e., files on a mainframe, relational database on a server, etc.).
Data Loaded into “Interim” Tables, MS SQL Server
Initial validation was conducted to assure that all data was migrated accurately and completely. During this stage, the legacy file layout may be replicated in the interim tables.
Using MediQuant’s data locator, the extracted data was identified (i.e., identified fields for patient name, MRN, allergies, etc.).
Migrated Data Into DataArk
The data was moved from the interim tables to the DataArk common, centralized data model. Once John Muir Health accepted the final validation performed by the validation team, the project went live!
