Your "Front End" Solution

First Comply provides the "front end" solution to check the diagnosis against the procedure according to the LCD/NCD. For those encounters that fail the medical necessity requirements, an ABN is produced for the patient to sign. Selecting appropriate CPT and ICD codes is simplified via key word search, order screens and other proprietary search methodologies. The software streamlines the entire medical necessity process for use in Central Scheduling, Registration, Lab, Radiology, Patient Accounting, H.I.M. and physician offices.

Medicare restricts the reimbursement of certain outpatient services based on medical necessity criteria that can be published in NCD's (National Coverage Determinations) and/or LCD's (Local Coverage Determinations). On a national level, CMS publishes the NCD's. On the local level, LCD's are published by Fiscal Intermediaries for Part A and Carriers for Part B. If the claims for these procedures are submitted with diagnosis codes that do not support "medical necessity" according to a NCD or LCD, the claim is denied for payment. Furthermore, unless a patient signs an ABN (Advanced Beneficiary Notice) prior to receiving the service, the provider may not bill the patient for these services. The facility is therefore left out in cold without an option to collect for the costly healthcare services that it has already rendered. The only solution is to catch these procedures before they are performed, check for compliance with the NCD/LCD and secure an ABN from the patient for procedures that don't pass the medical necessity test.

Results Tracking

First Comply will track pass/fails by any number of criteria, including procedure, date of service, ordering physician, diagnosis, etc. Additionally, educational materials can be produced for frequently failed procedures by physician.

Physician Office module

The physician module brings the functionality of First Comply to the physician's office AND allows the physician to produce an exam order. The order is produced with the CPT and ICD codes required for the order, checks the LCD/NCD and produces an ABN as necessary.

Internet Version Now Available!

In addition to its thin-client version, First Comply also comes as a browser-enabled software package. Clients may host the product within their own intranet on their server or may access the system via MediQuant's ASP services.

Electronic Signature Capture- Go Paperless!

Why pass more paper around your office? With First Comply's electronic signature capture module, ABN's and other documents are stored electronically. First Comply also has the ability to "push" documents stored in First Comply into 3rd party electronic imaging software.

Interface with client system

Interfaces are developed for clients within central scheduling, registration, patient accounting and other systems. Although First Comply interfaces are HL-7 compliant, custom made solutions are regularly produced to meet the full system integration needs of the healthcare continuum.

Auto Updating of LCD rules

As new LCD/NCD updates are published, MediQuant updates First Comply clients using remote access. The updates are implemented by MediQuant which creates a seamless process for clients.
